Altea Club de Golf was founded in 1974 by Mr Luis Campomanes Asumendi as part of the “El Aramo” residential development project in the foothills of the Sierra Bernia mountain range. It is located in the municipal limits of Altea, a Mediterranean village famous for the beauty of its historic quarter and the distinctive light. With a round of 3,078 metres from the white tees, extremely difficult holes – such as the 5th, a 550- metre par-5, or the 6th, a slightly uphill 180-metre par-3 – alternate with recovery holes which also require accuracy if you want tol and the ball on the fairway. Players tend to prefer the 3rd, with its views of the sea, and the 7th from where you can make out the mountains surrounding the Marina Baixa. In May 2006, the Club opened another 18 tee boxes, creating an extraordinary new design for the back nine, having two different rounds of 9 holes. 4 holes change of par and the rest in distance, allowing the players to enjoy 5,500m1 in 18 different holes. This renovation made Altea Club de Golf the first course in Spain with 9 holes but two completely different rounds.
